On SoundCloud, a comment doesn't sit below the track: it shows up on top of the waveform, at the exact second it was written. It's the platform's most visible signal — and the only one people actually read. That's why there are two tiers here, and the difference between them is the text.

Custom or Generic: Which to Choose

• Custom: you write each comment, one per line, in whatever language you want. The order quantity is the number of lines. It's the tier for anyone with an English-speaking audience, because the text comes out in your language and talks about your track.
• Generic: short compliments and emojis written by the accounts themselves, usually in English ("nice track"). You don't choose the text or the language. They cost eight times less and keep the waveform from looking empty.

In both cases the accounts are from various countries — what changes is who writes it. A comment in English signed by a foreign profile still reads as English to anyone who comes across the track.

How to Write Comments That Sound Like a Listener

• Vary the length: mix short phrases, emojis and the occasional longer comment
• Mention something specific about the track — the drop, the switch-up, the vocals — instead of a generic compliment
• Vary the phrasing: a different text for each comment gives the track the look of a real conversation
• Avoid links, @-mentions of other profiles, and "follow back" requests

The Right Order: Plays, Likes, Comments

A comment is the last step, not the first. On an organic track, out of every hundred people who listen, few like it and even fewer write anything. A track with 200 plays and 60 comments describes something that doesn't happen.

If the track doesn't have plays yet, start with SoundCloud plays; then likes in a smaller proportion; only then comments, in a small quantity. Ten or twenty well-written ones are worth more than a hundred repeated ones.

When a Comment Helps

• A release track that will be sent to a label, curator or booker — an empty waveform gives the impression that nobody listened
• A track pinned at the top of the profile, which works as a business card
• A long set or mix, where comments spread across the waveform show listeners stayed to the end

Requirements

Direct track link, public profile and comments enabled on the track (SoundCloud lets you turn them off in the track's settings). A private track or one with a secret link won't receive the service. In the custom tier, one comment per line. We never ask for a password.
