Threads has two services — followers and likes — and one quirk that changes everything: a Threads account is born linked to your Instagram, and Meta's policies apply to both. Any decision here is a decision about your Instagram too.

How does a Threads account relate to an Instagram account?

Threads is a Meta network built on top of Instagram: you sign in with your Instagram login, the username is the same, and the profile shows the link between them. In practice, that means the house rules are the same — Meta's Community Standards apply to the pair, not to one network in isolation.

Meta also maintains a separate policy on inauthentic behavior, aimed at networks of fake accounts operated together to deceive the platform or its users, with removal of the assets involved.
